Passiflora incarnata (PURPLE PASSIONFLOWER)

Showy flowers and showy edible fruits lend beauty to Passiflora incarnata (PURPLE PASSIONFLOWER). A deciduous vine that can be trained to a support. Winter dormant, it spreads by stoloniferous rhizome which can sprout far from the original plant.

Larval Host for butterfly: Gulf Fritillary, (Agraulis vanillae), Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charithonia), Crimson patch longwing (Heliconius erato), Red banded hairstreak (Calycopis cecrops), Variegated Fritillary and Julia heliconian (Dryas iulia)
